I have never been one to openly show support for any one individual that may favour one against another opponent but in this very critical situation for the electors of the Central Highlands Regional Council forth coming elections on the 19th of March I’m certainly endorsing local businessman Kerry Hayes to uphold the position of Mayor.
In this modern day and age it is of critical importance that electors be made aware of the significant changes made to the Local Government act that sets the rules and regulations for all Local Authorities to abide by. This Act now places enormous Financial and Executive responsibilities on the Mayor and Chief Executive Officer so in this time of monumental change it is of paramount importance that electors give their Mayor the strongest and experienced Councillors to make the difficult decisions.
A Council like the CHRC covers an area of this State that is going to witness enormous growth and wealth generation in a very near while. That is why a man of the calibre of Kerry Hayes is needed to lead and drive this exciting agenda, his past experience as a councillor gives him the expertise and qualities to be Mayor. He understands issues that LG now have to abide by like Accrual Accounting and being accountable to the Crime and Criminal Commission (CCC). He knows full well the adversities of the forced amalgamation had on the CHRC and the difficulties it endured as a result.
Kerry Hayes knows how to negotiate with State and Federal Government and not burn your bridges while doing so. I watched him lead the CHRC during the absence of the leadership group caught away on their annual holidays at of the time of that disastrous event the 2008 floods that paralysed Emerald I must tell you he exercised calm, responsible and compassionate leadership in one of Emeralds darkest two weeks. It gives me great pleasure to recommend Kerry Hayes as the CHRC next Mayor, a man who is community and people minded and a man I hold in the highest regard. Let your region grow and prosper under a natural and born leader in Kerry Hayes. I wish him and the people of this fantastic region Good Health, Happiness, and Prosperity under a Kerry Hayes led Central Highlands Regional Council.

As a family, and as a business in the Central Highlands we have strong views and beliefs. We believe Kerry Hayes would give the Central Highlands Regional Council a great Mayor who would lead us in a positive direction.
You have probably seen our ads in the paper trying to have members of the community ask the tough questions to our existing Councillors and aspirants to Council and Mayoral positions, and few responded. Let it be known, throughout the last 12 months of advertisements Kerry Hayes has ALWAYS picked up the phone and responded with clear views on how to get a better outcome for our region and been prepared to answer how he thinks these tough decisions should be tackled.
Kerry has been here in the Central Highlands his whole life and experienced firsthand the ups and downs of the Central Highlands. He has been, and still is successful in business with his practical no nonsense approach. Kerry has successfully tackled roles in local Government and acted in various capacities to negotiate good outcomes for the region. He knows how local Government should run to get the best for the rate payers, whom after all are the customers of the Council.
The Central Highlands needs Kerry Hayes as our Mayor so we have a strong leader with clear vision on what is right for all of the rate payers. Not a leader who only sees 1 sector of the community, but someone who wants the best for all. We know Kerry is the right person to fill this role and lead this council of the future. We wish all the ratepayers and voters of the CHRC a positive future under Kerry Hayes’ leadership.
