Inspiration in this region

You don’t have to look very far to find inspiration in this region.

I dropped in to see Craig and Bindi Pressler at 2PH on Selm

a Road just south west of Emerald as they were packing limes from their orchards.

The Pressler family lost every single citrus tree from their farms in and around Emerald in 2005 to an outbreak of citrus canker. The loss of income, loss of jobs and toll on the family was immense. I was acting Mayor at the time and witnessed first hand the angst they, and the other citrus growers in the region experienced.

Strong Leadership

In my view the greatest honour you can have at community level is to have the chance to be the Mayor of the region where you were born, raised a family, made a business and experience a lifestyle second to none. And if that chance is mine, I know I can make a significant difference. I have taken and succeeded at many challenges through my work and my 15 years of experience in local Government because of my communication skills, my great knowledge of the entire Central Queensland area and my effectiveness in a cohesive Council team. From being patron of the ESHS Student Council to Chairing the CBD revitalisation and contributing to Valuation groups and Regional Networks my community engagement is wideranging and widely sought.
