Fast, reliable Internet for Central Highlands

An exciting new opportunity has presented itself to Central Queensland. South Western Wireless Communications Company (SWWCC) is a business committed to delivering high speed internet to regional and remote areas across QLD and the company is targeting the Central Highlands as their initial roll
out. The company plans to deliver a service not yet offered by mainstream providers at a cost similar to current market rates.

SWWC2SWWCC is fully Australian owned and operated business with head office based in Macquarie Park, Sydney, NSW. SWWCC holds an Australian Telecommunications License and has developed a unique product enabling high speed internet access for regional and remote locations. This company will provide local employment opportunities while working with local IT businesses to maximise the potential of the technology and contribute to the local economy.

The product is based on a “mobile data centre” which in essence is a modified 20 foot shipping container and doubles as a wireless transmission tower designed to deliver high speed internet up to 30Kms away. This data centre (DC) is completely standalone containing redundant power, cooling and electronic equipment enabling for quick deployment in remote locations or locations with no existing infrastructure. The DC’s are positioned and connected to near existing fibre cable in the ground allowing for high speed internet access to be distributed quickly to hundreds of customers wirelessly.

Pending approval from CHRC, services could be up and SWWCCrunning within 6 weeks in Emerald follow by Blackwater, Rolleston and surrounding areas. Their wireless technology has the capability of transmitting high speed internet up to 30kms line of site from one of their repeater stations. Meaning that those with limited and/or poor internet connectivity could have an alternative option in coming months.

The roll out of this technology has been successful in rural NSW connecting whole communities with limited communications available in areas where there is only satellite options, some 3G or no internet options at all. In these areas local council, business, rural and residential customers have all been offered alternative access to high speed internet with this technology, where previously it was limited or non-existent.

The success of the design, technology and deployment methodology has generated strong interest in regional locations across Queensland and Western Australia.

A few of the benefits for business, Local Government and residents include;

  • Reliable access to VOIP
  • Remote office connectivity
  • Vehicle monitoring
  • Better access to Cloud based options
  • Quicker download and upload speeds
  • Enhance business advertising
  • Generates local employment
  • Provides local IT businesses access to the technology and support

As Mayor of the Central Highlands I will facilitate opportunities like this that provides:

  • Stimulation of the local economy by way of local jobs and services
